Sage Products’ Prevalon AirTAP Patient Repositioning System receives Innovative Technology designation from Vizient, Inc.
Designation recognizes products that bring improvements to the healthcare industry
CARY, IL, April 19, 2017 – Sage Products LLC received an Innovative Technology designation for the Prevalon™ AirTAP Patient Repositioning System™ from Vizient, Inc., the largest member-driven healthcare performance improvement company in the country.
“We are honored to receive the Innovative Technology designation from Vizient for the Sage Prevalon AirTAP Patient Repositioning System,” said Steve Anderson, vice president of national accounts, Sage Products, “Repositioning patients is a high-risk task, and the AirTAP makes it easier for nurses and staff to reposition patients and supports the nursing care workflow. This unique system helps reduce the risk of skin injury to patients and minimizes the injury risk for nurses and staff.”
Vizient’s Innovative Technology designation was based on reviews of AirTAP by hospital experts who attended the company’s 2016 Innovative Technology Exchange. The event provided medical technology suppliers the opportunity to demonstrate their product and gain direct feedback from 1,300 onsite clinical experts and healthcare providers on the impact their products may have on improving clinical care, safety, or benefits to an organization’s care and business model.
“Vizient is pleased to recognize AirTAP with an Innovative Technology designation earned at Vizient’s Innovative Technology Exchange,” said Debbie Archer, director of procurement and leader of Vizient’s Innovative Technology program for suppliers. “Given the numerous products and services on the market being touted as ‘innovative,’ our member hospitals truly value finding solutions that will improve their clinical outcomes and streamline their operations. The Innovative Technology designation indicates this product is seen as offering incremental benefits over other products current in the market.”
The AirTAP System uses air-assisted technology to significantly reduce the force required to move patients. Unlike other safe patient handling devices, AirTAP is always ready to use because it stays under the patient and fits seamlessly into nursing care workflow at the bedside. Addressing the four major risk factors that contribute to healthcare worker injury: exertion, high-frequency tasks, posture and the duration of task, it also reduces the need to log roll patients to offload the sacrum and decreases strain on the hands, wrists, shoulders and back.
To reduce the risk of skin injury, AirTAP addresses the four major risk factors for pressure ulcers: moisture, shear, friction and pressure. AirTAP also protects patients by maintaining an optimal microclimate and ensuring proper sacral offloading. The specially designed wedge system helps patients stay at a 30-degree side lying position and maintain a natural position when the head of the bed is raised.
